THE OLD RECTORY COTTAGES

We want you and your dog to have a great holiday with us at The Old Rectory Cottages. We hope you can appreciate some rules that we need to set in order to make your, our other guests and of course our own animals across the site comfortable.
Here are some things we provide to make your stay as good as it can be – please don’t take them home!

• Dog crate and mat in the cottage
• Dog bowls and feeding mat
• Sofa throws provided for covering the furniture
• Pet towels provided
• Some poop bags and tick removal tool
• Holiday dog tag with our address and contact numbers
• Details of dog friendly walks and beaches
• Useful contacts such as dog groomers and vets

You must let us know in advance if you’re intending on bring your dog. All dogs must be booked in by prior agreement. There is a £30 charge per dog per stay which covers additional cleaning costs and the additional facilities we provide to make your pet’s stay as stress free as possible. Any dog that has not been booked in may not be allowed to stay and you will need to book them into a local kennel.

There might be other guests on site so you must keep your dog on a lead at all times. Your dog must not be left alone to run free around the property. We provide dog crates with mats.

We do ask that you only let your dog use the grounds immediately adjacent to the Tythe Barn. Dogs should not go into the main garden near the pool or ponds, because we have a lot of visiting wild birds, ducks and a pheasant in residence. Please don’t take your dog into the area through the gate (to the pool) or the archway to the main gardens.

The Tythe Barn is the only cottage which dogs are allowed in, so if you are part of a group booking, and your party has taken more cottages, please ensure your dog only enters the Tythe Barn.

Dogs are very popular in our friendly village so you might meet other dogs on their daily walks. Make sure you don’t enter any fields as not all farmers are happy to have you wonder through their land. They must not chase any livestock or wildlife and please adhere to the Countryside Code at all times.
Please make sure you collect your dog poop in appropriate bags as they can cause disease to animals and even endanger lives of newly born farmstock.
There is a park at the other end of the village where you can let the dog go for a lovely run and a dog poop bin too.
To avoid yellow patches on the lawns we provide you with “doggy rocks” to go in the water bowls. Please use these, they are not harmful to your dog but will protect our lawns.

When you bring a muddy dog back from a walk, clean them off using the outside tap and the coloured canine towels provided, on no account use the white towels or pool towels provided – these are for the human guests.

Before you come, can you ensure that your dog is up to date with treatments such as their flea and tick treatments. It might be a good idea to bring your dog’s documentation (and insurance details) just in case you have to make a trip to the local vet.

Dogs are not allowed upstairs and definitely not on beds. They are allowed on the sofas so long as you use the throws provided and keep the dog from contact with the soft furnishings. We will have to levy an extra cleaning charge if they have been on the beds or on the uncovered sofas and damage will have to be paid for.

We regret that dogs that bark continuously are not allowed at The Old Rectory as they will disturb the neighbours and other guests.

Please give the cottage a basic clean and remove as much of the dog hair as possible; if properties require serious additional cleaning, we will have to charge a £100 fee to cover the cost.
